We are going to work the interrogative form. Here you have some grammar rules.

Asking about the past. Look, in the interrogative form the order of the questions

WH- question + did + subject + infinitive verb ?

What did you do last night? (asking about an action or thing)

Where did he go on vacation? (asking about a place)

When did she record an album? (asking about a particular date / time)

Why did you start your career? (asking for a reason)

How many records did they sell? (asking about quantity)
